I have a major exhaust leak b/n my two turbo's - where the hot pipe is v-band to the secondary charger...smoke rolls out from under the hood and the primary charger is covered in soot. Not sure if the v-band is bent or if it is even the right size/style v-band.

62mm charger is making 30psi and the s476 is making 30psi...total of 60psi

Just curious if anyone has had an exhaust leak like this, and what you gained when it was fixed?

I have been told quicker spool up, but anything else (other than being a lot cleaner under the hood)

Thanks

Kyle

i gained 5 more psi out of mine. if your using v band, when they get hot, they sometimes widen out. take some high temp rope like they use in furnace pipes and lay it in the v, use a high temp rtv sealer to just hold it in on the v clamp and stick it back on. it seals and it wont burn.

Don't worry, I am in the same boat. Seems as if my waste gate plate is leaking. Might use a copper plate or something.

Found out some interesting information...

I talked to Rip at source auto since I am using his hotpipe. He told me that some of HTT's SS exhaust housings are machined wrong, and if that is the case, the shallow hx-40 style clamp that he sells to use with his hot pipe won't seal. Apparently HTT is aware of the problem, and you can send the housing back to be machined.

A friend of mine also suggested this, if you are talking about a high temp fiberglass rope.

Mine has leaked before where the relief cuts are in the v-band. When I installed my new twins I lined the v-band with a piece of metal tape and it has stopped the leak.
