U Joint Size Recommendations

I have a 2006 5.9 CR QCSB 4x4. Truck was built with a G56 and am currently making it into an auto. Also completing some engine work in the process with the plan to be around 1000 RWHP once everything is said and done.

I have found a rear driveshaft at a local salvage yard but a friend recommended that I have a custom driveshaft made and upgrade to bigger u joints.

What size do y'all recommend?

I plan on racing, pulling, towing and driving the truck, I want something that can hold up to the abuse.

What size are in it now?

1480s should be fine for that kind of setup, being that it's still a street truck.

I don't have nearly that kind of power. But I run 1480s and I could sidestep the clutch on pavement with 35's and the only thing breaking is traction

Swapped the G56 (with SBC 3600 DD), t case, front driveshaft and cross member to a guy that is fairly local for his 48RE, t-case, front driveshaft and cross member plus cash.

1480 is the largest available for the slip yoke. You can get a 1550 flange for the pinion but limited up front.

The stock shaft you have should be 1480 all around so...
