anyone have any recommendations on which joints to get! or should i just go to advance or napa and get the brute force or equivalent! they are for the front driveshaft by the way?:bang

Did you blow the other ones of just wear them out?

I've always just gotten the HD replacements from O'Rilley. Figure they will give before something more expensive.

the one in the middle blew the bearings, and started makin god awful racket, so i figured i would replace all of them on the front driveshaft???? is there anything i need to look out for?

I have the $15.00 Brute Force NON Zerk on my 94. They held when I rung the pinion off? ..........

any thing i should worry about when replacing them? like the center ball or anything how can you tell if bad or what not?

I would suggest you get one without a grease zerk if you are pulling, they seem to be stronger.

Any one? where's billy at when you need him?

Where Billy always is, at work somewhere! LOL

I've used all of them, had the best luck from NAPA units followed by O'riellys. Changing out the front joints is not bad, just takes a little patience and a lot of whacks with a good hammer. If you have not changed them before in this truck get a propane torch and heat the yokes, there is usually some type of plastic the factory uses to help lock the bearing cups in, if there isn't it will make them come out easier. When you get a joint reassembled check it for freedom of movement, should be easy to move in all directions. If binding, try to determine which set of cups are binding and use a punch to respread the ears of the yokes a touch.

Hope this helps.

ok got some joints and got it apart, the Cv ball is busted and all the bearings fell out! which repair kit should i get greaseable or non?

its not worth wearing out non greasable parts.... I am usually don't have time to fix my own truck, so i buy my own u-joints and take it to the local driveshaft shop and have them but in all three joints and a new ball and socket ususally costs 80 bucks or so...

Greasables suck. They are weaker for one thing, and dunno about you, but I hate going under the truck and greasing 18 different zerks.. it makes a big mess too when the grease is flung out of the joint all over the under of the truck.

I made that mistake with my Jeep. When I change the U Joint I'm going to put non-greasables in there. A few of the U Joints I have to even drop the driveshaft to get to it so I usually don't bother.

well i rebuilt the shaft with new joints and cv ball and seal, but the dust boot that rides on the outside of the ball housing isn't seating and was kindof bent so i fixed it the best i could! but it still stays at an angle, will this hurt anything or do you not really need it anyway???
