I drilled out my stock wastegate larger to try to lower my EGTs only to find out that my stock wastegate actuator doesn't work. I applied air pressure to the port and it didn't move. only air came out where the shaft comes out of it. Is what I did going to help alot with EGTs when the gate opens?

anyone have a stock actuator for sale?

I dont think you will see a huge difference in EGT, but you may see some reduction. You should be able to lower the boost considerably though and that will help with drive pressure.

Call up Engineered Diesel, they have their spring style actuator. I just went with one and its pretty sweet. It also wastegate adjustment with just a allen key.
They said that the boost actuators, like the one you have pop the diaphram inside it.
I think it was $75.00

Once you get the gate working it will have lower EGT's because the drive press. will come down and if you were overspinning the turbo before it will bring it back down into its efficiancy range. When I did the one on my HX35 I think it brought max boost down from 48-51psi to around 38-42psi FWIW...

Here is the one i built for my HX35 long before the S300 spring style gate came out.

It worked great for me, and I didnt have any problem controlling boost. Also, surprisingly, it really slowed down the turbo bark. It wouldnt bark unless i was really into it and came out fast.

I found it in our shop. Im sure you could go about anywhere and pick up a few different springs to try. It worked really good for me, and I could adjust it easily by threading the nut down or up, then tightening the locknut back up against it so it wouldnt back off.

i have seen many stock blown diapgragms, in the actuators....

sometimes it causes lack of powr, cuz it blows the air out, when its supposed to go into the afc. (older style trucks) where the wg line goes from the afc housing to the turbo

My buddy's truck had the wastegate fail and somehow the wastegate puck actually stuck open so the truck was a complete dog lol.
