When I bought my truck (1996 model), it had the plastic encapped tranmission filter, which is supposed to be the updated part for better flow, or whatever chryslers reasoning was.
After I had the trans built with a DTT valve body, the plastic filter will not fit inside the pan any longer. I had the trans built in 07, and have been putting on the "paper" filter at each service, but when I changed it yesterday, I thought I would dig around and find out why it changed.
Did they send me an older style valve body? The pan is the one that came with the trans when I bought the truck in 03. I'm curious if that transmission had been replaced with a newer unit (maybe under warranty) before I bought the truck.
It just seems like it would have had to used a later production part before hand, and been changed back when the build took place.
I'm also thinking about freshening up this trans. At that point, is it worth it to switch to the other filter with a deep pan?
Thanks, Kyle.
