Vgt with wastage / ht80 for a compound set?

Puting together a low buck engine to play with and I was curious what thoughts are an using a vgt with an external wast gate as top and an ht80 as a lower with a 26cm hot side? The engine is a isb that will get a p-pump. I also have a 23cm hot side from an ht3b that looks like it would fit the 80.

Sounds like lots of time tuning it, i don't see how it couldn't work though!
 
If u could figure out how to open the vgt for spool up then start closing the vanes for it to start compounding and then open after the big charger starts to lite it would work great if the holset would stand it. I think this holsets will take a pretty good beating thought.

But if u couldnt get the vanes to work like that (is it mechinicly controled) i guess?

Maybe u could do something with a ext gate's?
 
From the factory it is electronically controlled with a stepper motor. I thought about trying to build a controller using a tac off of a drive by wire Chevy pickup ( they have a stand alone box) but i belive I would be farther ahead to just use a vacuum servo instead. Being this wound be just a pull/ play engine tuneing should pretty much stay the same once set, right?
