Voltage gauge

So today I noticed my volt gauge is maxed out, like 20V, nonstop. Thought the regulator went out, but then I noticed that the gauge doesn't drop to 0 when the truck is off. Can anyone confirm that it should? Kind of makes me think the gauge is the problem, even though I think the regulator is more likely. Either way, I'm going to take it to my friends shop and troubleshoot it tomorrow. Think I'll rebuild the alternator rather than pay $200 for a new one....

PS.-if I do tear the cluster apart, is there anything special I should know? Never done it on this truck and I don't wanna break anything.

Chevy has a TSB out on the cluster. The gauge cluster is going wacky. Just be sure to let them know if you have the Overdrive lock out before they order your new cluster.

TSB, you talking about a recall? I've never heard that abbreviation.

Ok, I'm stupid and it's late. Sorry about that post.

Got a date for that bulletin? There are a TON of electricals to look through.
