vp trouble?

yesterday my 01 so dodge started acting up started to miss and shutter real hard lots of white and black smoke out of the pipe at a idle and finally shut off checked fuel press its good but the truck would not restart got to playn with my edge drag with box on 5 it restarted and has ran fine every since even when i turn the box down not sure what to change it has dead pedals like 3 times in 2 years any help ?
 
Mines doing same crap only starts now when cold called blue chip and talked to chip told him what it's doing said the computer went bad on pump so I'm sure ur in the same boat
 
Not always true. I've had lots of people return pumps because they diagnosed them wrong. Could be APPS related.
 
I was wondering about that any way to test for that Jamie?? Just weird only starts when stone cold runs fine until it reaches operating temp then it's got a dead spot you can rev it to 2500 and it's smooth past that it sounds and act like it's got a 13mm ppump shuddering popn and smoken raw fuel bad
 
apps? what codes do they usally throw check engine light not on but is showing a code when u turn the key on and off
 
no it takes like 10 minutes then it will start it hasnt did it since it did it yesterday that was the first time this has ever happened
 
Mine had a 1689 I belive chip said if you got that one pumps computer is junk hell I don't know tierd of f--$n with it tho
 
I've seen alot of wierd stuff happen with vp trucks. They are tricky sometimes. I'm not saying it isn't the pump, but possibly other issues.
 
Try adjusting and resetting the APPS sensor. If that doesn't work then it's your VP. Checking your apps is free and takes 20 mins.
 
Get a code reader... a 1693 is a companion code.
