Does tapping the pump end up killing a vp44?
I put a pump in my 01 30,000 miles and 4 years ago. Now getting dead pedal and missing and 0216 code. I put and air dog pump on when I did the pump and have never had less than 14psi. The comp has been on since also. Can the pump tap kill the vp44 or do I just have crap for luck?

It can't help the life of the pump, but I don't think it will kill it, mine made it over 100k with a tapped wire. In that time it also lived through the death of 4 lift pumps, so bear in mind that every VP seems to be a little bit different.

I was wondering the same but not just the edge comp. I thought it was hard on the pumps with any boxes or programers that advanced the timing. How many others have got 100k out of the pump with boxes or programers that advance the pump timing?

I had about 35,000 miles on the original pump with a tapped with and 3 dead lift pumps. ULSD and lift pumps dieing got my stock pump and I went with a HRVP and FASS with a tapped with and got rid of it with around 100k miles on that set up but I run additive in every tank of fuel.
