I am on my third vp, the first vp started dieing then in a split second it would fire back up, it died one day about 80 times in 20 mile. That pump had about 5 months on it, so they sent another, as soon as it warmed up it started surging and got worse as it heated up to normal. When I say surge I mean it will drop 100-150 rpm and up and down. And now I am on #3 it is surging also, worse than #2. Am I just getting junk vp's or what do you think? No codes, even the first pump didnt throw any codes. I keep hearing most rebuilders dont replace the electronics. It runs great when it is cold, as soon as it starts to warm up it starts surging. I just put a new overflow valvue on, and a new draw straw in tank.
Bumped up the fuel pressure to 16 psi at ldle. I will pm you if you need the distributors name.

ROUGH OR ROLLING IDLE OR INTERMITTENT MISS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AT LESS THAN FULL THROTTLE”

This is always the computer on the top of the injection pump, as long as there is appropriate lift pump pressure and no codes pertaining to Crankshaft or Camshaft sensors. By now you know what a bad computer means; REPLACE THE VP44

Is rolling idle the same as surging? This thing is up and down up and down about 5 times like it is searching for the idle position. Gets worse with A/C on.

um how old is your apps? mine did this once and it never had any codes tho , changed it and it was smooth after

I put a timbo apps in about a year ago. Not saying it didnt go out but everybody tells me if apps is out or acting funny it will throw a code. But you say yours never did?

had an apps die. no codes. timbo apps is the shiz. it can die also. 3 bad pumps,.......thats really, really bad luck.

100-150 rpm sounds like a convertor locking and unlocking at cruise speeds.

yep no codes just a surge at about 1700 rpm's, well you just might have gottin a bad batch of pumps, built on a friday or something:doh:

I swaped the third pump out with the second pump and the second one surges a good bit less than the third for sure. It also runs smoother than the third one did.

What is everyones opinion on Blue Chip Diesel and there VP's. It sounds like he knows what he is doing. I guess, but you never know.

I'm running one and really like it. Never had a problem you have to keep fuel pressure there. He seems to be good to work with.

Blue Chip

I have a Blue Chip SXVP44. Truck runs well with it. Had it on about 7 months now. Paid a little more for it, about 1800 bucks. Hope it pays off. Chip has me convinced this is a good VP44 by his website literature and because so many people speak highly of him and his products.:Cheer:

I went with the Blue Chip XVP44. Only 1 1/2 years on it. It is pricey though.
Same as Powerwagon64, the website literature sold me......he didn't sell it to me before we had a discussion on what it was doing and it was the problem.
I got a Blow Pop with my pump.........does that signify that I got bent-over....or is that to enjoy when the turd was running again???
