my 2000 dodge still wont start it will crank over but not start... you can give it a shot of ether and it will try to fire but once the ether is gone it stops..... it shot 9 codes when i scanned it and they were for everything..... i cleared it and the only one that came back was a map sensor... i dont know how much fuel pressure im getting could there be a good possibilty a check valve went bad.... im getting fuel to the head and smoke out the exhaust but no start..... and fass system wont come on with the key..... what could control that.... the vp? any help or opinions or suggestions would help

If it will start on ether but won't stay running you're not getting fuel. Take the fuel line off where it goes into the fuel pump and see if fuel comes out. Also check the wiring to your FASS to make sure that it's getting power.

im getting juice to the fass but i got to wire it to run and it is getting fuel...u can crack the line and it flys everywhere..i do not know the pressure tho...... why wouldnt the fass come on with the key? wat tells the lift pump to turn on when you turn the key...... the ecm the vp? i guess wat im saying is i know im getting fuel to the motor.... the vp is on a gear under the timing cover so i would think that it should pump fuel no matter what mechanically.... but what excites the pump? the electronics? if not then i would think it should fire.. or could i have a bad pump but shoot no code?

You're going to be calling on your batteries for extra power so charge them up first.
With stock wiring, the ECM powers the lift pump.

Disconnect the battery charger.

You should get the Free 25 Second Lift Pump Run by turning the keyswitch just enough to "bump" the starter then quickly release.
After getting the lift pump running, loosen the #1, #3, #4, & #5 injector fittings on the head with a 19mm wrench.

Do The Free 25 Second Lift Pump Run a coupla times to try to get some air out of your injector pump.

Now crank the engine 5 seconds then check for any wet fittings...tighten the wet ones.

If none are wet, crank for 5 more seconds then check again.

Crank 5 more seconds and check the other fittings...tighten the loose ones. After most are tightened, the engine should be trying to start. When it starts "kicking", tighten the rest of the loose fittings and start the engine.

IT needs to have crank sens fpr the fuel pump to run. Dose ur tack move when you crank it over?

I just replaced the crank sensor 2 days ago..... il keep an eye on the tach tonight when i try it.....I really thought i had all the air out of the lines but il try it all again..... thaks guys... i will keep ya posted

well i tried to bump the starter and the lift pump never came on....... and it is hooked up correctly... checked all fuses and relays and they all tested good

Take the power lead from the relay(fass) to the battery and try that.It sounds like the ecm is not giving it power.?

i know on my truck if there is full lift perssure going into the Vp while cranking it will take 30 sec or cranking to start, but if you unhook the fass and have no pressure while cranking it starts as soon as you hit the key, some VP's are like this

hmmm i can try that...... you might be right..... but i would think the truck should of started with a lil shot of ether unless theres something electrical holding it back like the pump or ecm....... ecspecially since the lift pump wont turn on....... but every suggestion helps and il try them all haha
