Would 23 psi for one quick instant when turning the key forward be to much for the early year vp44 cause damage to the diaphram? Or could I get by with it? Like I said it would be for a very small amount of time (3-5 seconds) before each start up.

Depends on who you asked. It works for some but not others, the VP is a fickle creature. LOL

I have mine set to start with 10psi, idle at 35psi, and WOT at 28psi. been like that for 1.5yrs with no problems

Im more worried about the earlier year vp44. Exclude the 01-02 years. Im sure they can handle it. I am correct when I say the diaphram in the 98.5-00 trucks are weaker than the 01-02?

I haven't heard talk about the earlier ones being weaker?

Hmm... Always heard the earlier ones had a little weakin diaphram but better brains than the 01-02 pumps. Anything true about that?

I run a 12v lp pump and it does fine. It idles at 27 and cannot read the rest when i touch the throttle. mines an 01.5
