I've got a friend that is wanting to build his truck into a puller for next year and be very competitve in the 2.5/2.6 classes. Its an 01 QC SB 5spd. Supposively it is an H.O. truck that has been converted to 5spd. We are going to change all that though and put a 6spd back in it.

My question is, what power combo's are you guys using. We are on a tight budget for next season so going deeply internal with the engine will probably be out of the question. The combo I thought of was this

DDP 200's or a set of 5x .018's
Silver 62/14 turbo
ATS manifold
Air Dog 150
Greg Hogue Dual Valve Springs
Head Studs
.093 Cross Overs
Intercooler possibly
Redline or Adrenilan/Edge Comp stack.

Looking for about 550-600RWHP

I know the Redline looks to be the way to go around here, but I know that putting one on one truck and then maybe another truck is kinda like a hit and miss situation. That and we really done see giving $1500 for a box that might work or not. How have people been doing with the Adrenilans? Are they just as good or what?

Thanks for any info.

dont think a adrenilan will stack with an edge might use smarty i dont sell smarty and have no ties to them i am looking for one to stack with my edge comp with the smarty you can turn off the timing dont think it can be done with adrenilan though

If your going to build a truck for that class with a stock injection pump you should be fine with the stock cross overs since your looking to save money. Also i would go with a 66 if your running a 2.6 class. Most air as possible. Also i run a VA box and a Redline and I like the stack alot. Although the Redline stays way down in fueling i run it just for the RPMs when I pull. You should be fine with a stock intercooler. I still have one and have had no troubles. Headstuds are not a bad idea but if your going to loosen the head probably should oring the head and put a new gasket it on it so that way you dont have to worry about it at all. Although you can adjust the wastegate to 45 lbs or so and thats what I ran for a year of pulling without popping the headgasket on stock headbolts. Budgets are hard to work around because there is always something more you wish you did while it was apart. Good luck with the build

The Adrenaline is a complicated box. I can pull well over 4k rpm, but some guys can only pull 3800. It matters which pump you use etc. The Redline stacks great with the Adrenaline & you can use the custom tuning to perfect your boost/timing scales which benefits for daily driving. I haven't pulled with the stack, but I've run them hard & think the Adrenaline feels stronger. Then again, I've only run the Redline for a week. I'm still dialing in the right settings etc., but I will be hitting the dyno this Saturday to see what I'm looking at. I've learned in the past that my "seat of pants dyno" can lie to me.

DDP 200's or a set of 5x .018's or 250ish
Silver 62/14 turbo get a 66 for the 2.6 class
ATS manifold
Air Dog 150
Greg Hogue Dual Valve Springs
Head Studs
.093 Cross Overs Junk. Save your money
Intercooler possibly Not necessary
Redline or Adrenilan/Edge Comp stack. Redline/EZ

Looking for about 550-600RWHP

That might be 575ish.

the reason for the 62 is most of the pull we will go to is 2.5, and I know that some 64mm will not pass a 2.5 plug. The 2.6 classes will only be a once in a blue moon thing.

Hey Cummins724 and Shiftycapone. What kind of power #'s are you guys making with the setups in your signatures?

I know there is talk about how some HRVP pumps and Monster pumps are really not that much better than S.O. pumps, but how does the H.O. pumps compare? Would it be better to find an S.O. pump to replace the H.O., or should we just save his money and not worry about it?

Definitely replace the HO with an SO....best bang for the buck IMO.

I would at the very least go with the SO pump. Youre definetly gunna need a clutch, but I wouldnt change the NV4500 save ur money and just put an upgraded output shaft in it. Stock lines are just fine, and you may be able to get a 64 built to fit ur 2.5 class. Ive had good luck w my Redline.$.02 I had a HO pump and w 180inj, I could run the pump dry and stall the truck

I am not sure, but gotta be around 525-550hp? I'll know Saturday.

Depends on his budget. A new pump is going to run as much as a Redline.. Might be worth running the HO until it goes T.U. (Which it eventually will), and getting the Redline instead. The SO pump is an upgrade, but there are already rumors floating that a few of the bigger names in diesel performance are coming out with new and improved VPs.. Then there is always the option for a P-Pump swap, but I don't know what that would do in the rules book..

For a budget, it is hard to beat the TST / Smarty stack. Bang for the buck, there really isn't anything better.

I'm running a FMS / Smarty stack.. (the FMS is very similar to the Redline, but doesn't offer the 4k RPM fueling). I love this combo. For a street driven truck, it is perfect. I don't deal with the crappy de-fueling shutter that you get with many of the other options. As far as Blue Chip products go, you can't go wrong... Just depends on if you want to spend the extra money.

Don't waste money on the bigger tubes or intercooler.. Save it for extra parts!

First off u should go with the ddp competition series injectors! Then i go with aurora 4000, im pretty sure they are right at 2.5 but im not positive! And definately go with a redline! And if u wanted to save a little bit of money i would go with a kennys dual disc and just upgrade your input shaft in the nv4500!

On a side note industrial injection is supposed to be coming out with a new vp im sure they will be in the $2000 range but before i threw any money away on a so or hot rod i would see what this thing is capable of!

I'm gonna say around 550 on fuel haven't had the water on in a while. I am going to be hitting the dyno soon as I get my 13ss housing on, and I will let you know what it does. As for putting in the 6 speed, I would just save your money and get a good clutch. I ran a SB double disk when I had my 5 speed and it worked great.

I have an A4000, with my jammer 4's it get's pretty hot on a WOT run at the drag track... But it does clear up the smoke of my Jammer 4's. You're the first person I've seen recommend an Aurora charger... so was just curious as to why??? ;-)

Specs on a 4000 are:
Compressor Wheel-----Inches-----Millimeters
-----------Inducer-----2.48--------63.00
-----------Exducer-----3.63--------92.28
Exhaust Wheel-----Inches-----Millimeter
--------Inducer-----3.00-------76.43
--------Exducer-----2.76-------70.14

What about a p-pump conversion? Sell the H.O. pump, dont spend the money on all the boxes that might not pull 4k. Doesnt have to be a crazy p-pump.
