I have received a ton of questions over the last few months on this conversion so rather than hijacking other peoples threads I'm starting this one to answer questions post up pics of my TDI conversion.

I'll get pics posted up as the day progresses and start adding info as much as time allows.

The subject in this case is a 99.5 VW New Golf with a auto trans.
Engine has new pistons/rings and bearings etc, ARP head studs and a clean intake/EGR with the EGR shut off through VCDS.

I've added a slightly larger turbo, Garrett 1749VB, Injectors off the 150hp Transporter, a 3bar MAP sensor, AFE intake and a muffler/cat ectomy.

Without the CNG its fun to drive but with it it's a BLAST!!

Before the CNG I was filling the diesel tank once a week at approx $45.00 pr fill.
I drive 60 miles pr day round trip then the playing on the weekends.

Now I'm filling the tank once a month at approx 12-1300 miles and filling the CNG about every 3-4 days @ $6-8.00.

very cool... what did the complete setup cost you?

We do the conversions at my shop and in a diesel truck they retail for $3500.00 with a small used tank. Small as in approx 5-7 gge.

To do this kit in a car like mine would be more as the tank mounting is a royal pain in the as$.

That's awesome. Too bad there's only 2 places I know of here in Ohio for the public to fill CNG and none of them are within 100mi of me.

I didnt mean+ to avoid your question Forrest..

My out of pocket is about $1800.00 + about 25hrs of labor.
Kit was $500.00
Tanks were $900.00 used.

Trucks do not require that much labor but cars are a pain.

no sweat... doesn't seem bad at all :D

Can I just tap into a home natural gas supply and use a Harbor Freight air compressor?:lolly:

If you do make sure your neighbor across the street has his video camera set up so we can all watch.. :lolly:

Very nice man. Too bad Questar doesn't have any stations here; before I moved there were two stations. They sit 150 miles away now and I'm on propane at home:doh:

I'm guessing the switch goes from straight diesel to CNG? Is it a diesel/CNG mix?
