want to build a 12v

i currently have a 99 7.3 and it may kick the bucket soon so i want to buy a 12v and build it but still be streetable just wondering what year engine i should try to find and whats the deal with "53" block? im basically just looking for tips so that i wont waste money just looking for any help and advice thanks guys anything would be great

And you've hardly given us any info on what your goals with this build are. Makes it hard to give any useful advice.
