I changed my thermostat last week and now when i start my truck you hear water runnin through the dash. Did i get a air pocket in it! Im not leaking any antifreeze like headgasket it just make the gargle sound when i first crank it up

Mine does it sometimes no bad side effects as of yet, been doing it for a long time.

Its got plenty of water it just started doing it when i changed thermostat. I figured it was air pocket or something! Thanks guys

It's an air pocket in the heater core. I haven't had a diesel truck do this to me, but the small block trucks seem to do this frequently after draining the cooling system for one reason or another. It doesn't seem to hurt anything, just is annoying. The air pockets can be a royal pain to purge sometimes too.

If it were me and my truck, I'd leave it alone for a while and see if it fixes itself.

turn the heat all the way on and get truck up to temp i would think it fix it self after awhile

I had a similar sound after replacing my heater core and I also thought it was an air pocket after 3 months of listening to it I took the heater box back out and it turned out to be one of the vacuum cylinders for the doors in the box had a bad seal and was leaking air. I bet you could put a vacuum gauge on the vacuum pump and run the different air selections an see if there is a drop in pressure. This would save you from taking the dash out if it wasnt the problem.

my '01 does this. every once in awhile, I'll hear a little gurgling from the heater core area. No ill effects, thusfar, and it's been doing it since I've had the truck..
