yeah i know that its late in the winter to be looking to fix the heater but it iced here the other day and my heater wound barley get hot enough to defrost the windshield. So my question is, is there a simple way to clean the heater core? the blower works ok, the heater just doesnt get hot like i think it should.

any help would be great

Other than a citric acid flush, nothing I can think off. You generally don't do one of those in the winter since it involves straight water in the cooling system.

I am in the same boat. My heater has been marginal this winter with any temps below 20 degs this winter.

I Know In My Old S-10 Blazer There Was A Orfice Meter That Was In The Line For The Inlet Of The Heater Core It Had Gotten Blocked Up I Cleaned It Out And Drilled It Out A Little Bigger It Would Run You Out Of There Loved The Heat It Kicked Out. It Also Increased The Flow Rate Thru The Heater Core And Never Had A Issue With Build-up In The Core.

I had the same problem guys. Take the heater core line closest to the motor loose, take an air compressor and start out blowin about 30psi through it then slowly work your way up to about 65 or 70. You will lose anywhere from half to a gallon of coolant. . . so you'll have to top it back off when your done. May sound crazy but my buddy has done the same thing to about 8 second Gens this winter and it fixed them all. . . you may or may not see debris in the coolant that comes out, alot of it is just build up that breaks down as soon as the air pushes it through
