Got a 2001 with radio controls in steering wheel. Radio will not turn on but if i unhook the batterys hook them back up the radio will work. For about a min or so then it quits again. Unhook batts hook them back up it works again. Anyone go anything on this one i'm at a loss?

Have not pulled radio yet but dome light does not other then that everything else works. Already checked all fuses and the IOD fuse there all good. Just weird unhook the batteries hook them back up and pow it works for a min then don't again. I guess I can pull the radio but didn't think it could be problem because when it is working everything functions correct

ive had this happen with aftermarket radios before. something in the radio that gets constant 12 volts heats up and shorts out causing radio to not work. take power away, then hook it back up and it works for a second, a minute, a day, sometimes 2 days. id try a differnt radio if ya got one. id be looking for wires that look like they have been hot, or any rubbed through. if your not the original owner, you could have a wiring nightmare on your hands.

Could be a clock spring. In the steering wheel. Ever time mine went out i had no radio controls in my steering wheel.

With it having the radio controls in the wheel would a radio out of one w/o wheel controls work in it? But retain steering wheel controls?

it is possible if its from the same year or close. if not , you can get a decent aftermarker radio that will hook up to the wheel controls for pretty cheap. unless you like the factory look.
