I have a t-4 spacer plate I was goin to weld on the factory manifold by getting it red hot and using nickel rod. I was wondering if it would hold up. Has anyone tried or done this?

I know on turbos my buddies tig weld flanges and pipes to them. No heat just weld.

I have mig welded exhaust manifolds on gas motors to change outlet angles.

When we welded my adapter to my stock manifold we heated it in the oven to 400+ then used nickel rod. Never had any issues.

I have cut 6bt manifolds down and welded plates on the ends to make 4bt manifolds. No heat, just a cheap mig welder! Leave it air cool.

I've done it alot with a mig. Weld it like Lreiff said, sometimes it have a hairline crack in it. If it does make a fast downhill weld again with the mig right over the crack.

I turn the heat all the way up on my little pos hoho-bart and set the wire speed as slow as I can without burning the tip, this gives maximum weld penetration and the heat helps the wire bond to the cast without much if any cracking. I used .030 wire. and Stargold14-M shield gas.
