Driving home from work last night I notice over the course of the 19 mile trip that the fuel pressure was dropping 10.....8......6......4.....0

About four miles from home I have to climb a decent hill out of town and I barely made it to the top. Truck was spitting and sputtering the whole way. I made it home and got her in the garage. I do have codes, 0122 and 0500. No "death" codes although I also know you don't need one to have a dead VP. I also didn't have the infamous dead pedal.

As you can see in my sig I have a Raptor 150. I'm just confused why the fuel pressure would have went to 0. Shouldn't the Raptor have kept the pressure up? At this point I'm 98% sure it's the VP but is there anything else I can check to make sure before I order a pump? I'm probably gonna call Blue Chip tomorrow unless you guys have any other suggestions.

I got fuel last week so I don't think it's the filter although I'm gonna change it anyway. I just put a draw straw on it 2 years ago when I put the Raptor on. I wouldn't think it's be cracked already would it?

It's possible the raptor went out. I had one fail and it was taken care of no problem. Just because it's making noise doesn't mean it's pumping

Well I thought to myself as I was watching the pressure drop, either that Raptor quit or this gauge ain't working right. I'm gonna go out now and see if I can confirm whether it is or isn't working. I was so pissed last night I just parked it when I got home lol

Well I may have dodged a bullet. Raptor pump isn't working at all. I assume no fuel (or VERY little) can flow through the Raptor pump when it isn't working which explains why it was coughing and wanted to die out. Truck starts right up but died once the fuel that was in the filter housing was used up. Looks like it's a lifetime warranty so it should be covered. I have an email into Pure Flow. Hopefully hear from them tomorrow.

Once you've hit zero your on borrowed time. I'm betting you'll get maybe 3 weeks to a month out of the vp before it goes as well.

When the relay to my FASS failed I had zero fuel pressure.

The VP could not pull enough fuel through the FASS to continue running. Truck just died and would not run.

I'm surprised you were able to make it home if your raptor was failing. I would be more worried about getting fuel pressure back up where it belongs and then worry about if the VP died.

X2 on this ^^^^^^ I've been there it will run for a while but u hurt the vp forsure 8psi can hurt one never mind running it at 0 I sure hope its a quick and cheap fix VPs are not cheap at all best of luck

Well after playing with it some more I believe I have a bad relay. I have power to the relay, fuse before the relay is good but no power after the relay. Going tomorrow to get a new relay and we'll see what happens then.

Well I got the new relay today, plugged it in, still don't have power beyond the relay. If I jump the terminals in the relay I'll get power to the pump but the pump still won't run. I don't ****ing understand this. What would cause the relay to have power in but no power out with a brand new relay?

I went 5 years on a pump that was run on zero pressure for a couple of months with the wire tapped and even when I replaced it it was running fine. It's not unusual or uncommon. He caught it early and as long as he doesn't keep driving it it could last a long time.

Run a wire direct from the battery to the pump.

I jumped a wire directly from the battery to pump power wire and it still wouldn't run. I would just chalk it up to a bad pump except I can't figure out why if was just a bad pump am I not getting power beyond the relay.

What are the odds of a bad pump and a bad connector at the same time? I just feel like I'm missing something.

Slim to none. But weirder things have happened. Chance the bad connector shorted the pump out.

Thats the thing, it could.... You never know. I wouldn't put too much faith in it IMO.

My experience with VP's is that they are tougher than most folks give them credit for. Sure they aren't as reliable as a p-pump or CP3 but they also aren't as weak and feeble as the Internet would have you believe. I'd run that VP until it started giving me trouble. No sense in dropping the coin on replacing a pump just because it saw 0psi once.
