What 271 do I need???

97' NV4500 I have a sensor in the tailshaft of the T-Case and in the Pumpkin out back? Also I am going to go to a Posi-Lock up front. It is floor shift also obviously. What year and truck so I can call up and order it. How far back does the T-case move hope it dont run into my ladder bars!

You will loose your speedo, unless you account for that, and then the shift pattern is different on the 271 from the older 242DHD.

Mines a DLD just looked what do I have to do to retain the speedo and what do I do about the pattern.

Put a 241DHD in to retain your speedo. and yea Garret was right. Fat fingered it. 98 and newer you can use the 271 cause the speedo is from the tone ring around the carrier. I have never looked into the pulse counts and wandered how many pulse counts per rev the tone ring gave and how many the transfercase gave.
