There is a wire that goes to the bottom of my battery box on drivers side. I was wondering what the heck this wire does. I was planning on eliminating it but want to know what it is first. Also I believe the vaccum pump is the device under the battery box and I was wondering what the wire connector to it is for. I was thinking of getting rid of those wires but dont know if that will affect on how the truck runs. Any info on these would be greatly appreciated. I'm in the process of eliminating all wires I dont need at the minute.

Well, that wire to the bottom of the battery box is the battery temp sensor, tells the alternator when to start charging. Your vac pump is located on the LH side of the engine in front of the power steering pump, what you are seeing below the battery box is the vac reservoir for the cruise control.

So do you really have to have the temp switch for the alternator or can it be removed? Also can I remove the reservoir for cruise control because it will no longer be used anyways.

The battery temp sensor is what tells the PCM how much to charge the batteries. I don't think it would be a good idea to make it go away. The cruise can be eliminated, just be sure to plug the vacuum line to it.
