Cant decide if I want 4.56 and still be a little bit streetable, or 5.13 so I can pull in low side of transfer???

Anyone run 4.56???? This is in a 5sp truck..

Ya just did a quick search and cant find any... Parts guy that was going to set my gears said he can do either one and they have about the same final drive ratio that Im looking to run. So looks like its 5.13's!!!!

i wouldnt give a second thought to running that. your not running in 4x4 on asphalt thats dry so id say youd be fine. not enough difference to hurt on the dirt.

OK. what do you guys think about this... 02 NON CAD do I run a spool/welded carrier or a locker...

Your in a bad spot...cause you can't unlock one side to steer with a spool or a welded carrier. It would even be worse with a bunch of weight hanging off the front. Looks like a selectable locker!!!

Yeah been doing research and looks like ARB air is about the only way. Would be nice if the non CAD's came with 35 spline shafts!!!! Looks like I'll have to stay 3.55 for 1 for year... Really dont have 1K for compressor and locker. Thanks for the help..

what about a standard posi unit like a factory trak-lok... it would slip enough to allow you drive under low power manuevering in the pits, but will lock up when you put the power to it. its not as good as a 100% locker, but it can be done for about $350 or less and will work better than an open diff. i think when i get the money to re-gear my truck i am gonna spring for a factory D60 posi unit out of the rear of a half ton on something, i've heard good things about them.

i re-stacked the clutches in my D80 rear posi last year and it was like a spool. i spun both tires all the time, even at the big end of the track when the sled stopped me...it kept the rear end locked up.

The power lock's only come in 30 and 35 spline. 01 and 02 trucks have 32 spline front axles! Your wright, the power lock's work great!

Wait a minute...what spline count is the rear d-70u? I thought i read somewhere that they are 32 spline, if so maybe you can take the side gears out of the rear d-70u power lock and put in a d-60 30/35 spline power lock and it would work? I just picked up a broken rear d-70 out of a dodge auto...mmmm i will check in to that and get back with more info!!!
