Ok so my mods are in my signature. For about a good 9 months I haven't done any other mods to my truck. Now that I finally fixed my trans problem ( governor shift solenoid) 2 months later I have a problem now. So my idle is a little lower now. I can't fuel to 3400rpm like I use to. Now it stops at 2700 till it shifts. It pops a little at idle. There was a light haze. Now there's a noticeable haze. And when the truck is cold. When you put it in drive it lopes like crazy. When the trucks in netural and I rev it. It goes to 3700rpm no problem with plenty of smoke. So what did I break or what happened. My 4 theories are. Injectors are going bad. My lift pump is going. My timing jumped. Or I broke a govenor spring. What do you guys think

Oh and also. While crusing down the highway. My rpms at 70mph use to be 2000 to 2100. Now its 1700 to 1800

I think its a dodge truck with ford white paint. I would be pissed also.

Timing.

And if you've dropped 300rpm cruising down the highway then either your converter wasn't locking up before and is now or your tach is reading wrong because your rpm at cruising speeds is determined by gear ratios and nothing else.

The idle being lower is most likely causing the lope. The haze, popping and defueling at a lower rpm could be caused by slipped timing, sucking air, or fuel pressure. When was the last time you did a fuel filter, have you modified or replaced your overflow valve?

The rubber fuel lines near the bell housing are known to go bad, but usually cause a hard start, you can remove the fuel heater so it doesn't cause any issues down the road. Stretch your OFV spring and if you want you can add a spring out of a Bic pen for a little extra fuel pressure.

It also sound like your converter wasn't locking up before which could have been a TPS voltage issue. If you're able to check(orange wire w/blue stripe) and adjust it try to get it between .9-1.2V, if it need's adjustment, make sure to adjust the idle first.

Ford white paint looks awesome on a dodge lol. And I didn't even have to pay for it. When I got t-boned by a mustang. The whole driver side was messed up so I got all the repairs plus a paint job thanks to his insurance. Anyway. What's everyone elses rpms at 70mph. I have 3:54s. How can I determing weather it was the convertor not locking up or the tach.

Overflow valve. There was no spring or ball in it. So I just left it alone. Fuel filter I did maybe 9k miles ago. But I'm gonna replace it anyway

3.54's and 35" tires puts me around 1700-1800rpm at 70mph and 2000rpm at 80mph.

So the pressure valve on the pump between the pump and head has no spring or ball in it? Theres you problem no fuel pressure.

The only way you lost rpm @ the same speed is that the transmission either wasnting locking the convertor in OD, or it never shifted to OD.

So do you have the type of OFV that you can take apart? If so and there was no spring or ball then you need to buy a new one. That means you have next to no fuel pressure in the pump.

Maybe I'm mistaken the banjo bolt for the overflow valve. But also. Losing rpm is in every gear. When I'm WOT. It goes to 2700rpm and starts defuels like hardcore

The banjo bolt in the side of the pump that returns fuel should have a ball and spring in it to maintain fuel pressure

The banjo bolt never had a spring or ball for the 2 years I've had the truck and the previous owner never touched the pump. That's interesting.

You need to get a new one then. One that can be taken apart and adjusted. dont get it from a dealer they are like $120 just for the banjo call Haisley they have them for $80 i think. Scary thing is wonder were the ball and spring is? In the pump? or did somebody take it out for some reason. From the restriction in the line you probably only have 10 psi fuel pressure. that thing should run circles around itself with good pressure
