i am bombing the crap out of my truck and now need studs i know arps are the way to go im no going to run more then 55 psi so what studs should i go with and what head gasket? and no im not o-ringing it

ARP 12mm studs would do fine. they work alright for me been pushing 55psi for a year now and havent had any trouble.

ARP or A1's work fine. 12mm is usually all the bigger you have to go. O-rings work well with that setup. I run fire rings on mine but I tear the head down once a year and go through it all so I don't have to worry about failure due to race or daily driving. Some will say a normal head gasket, some will say fire rings, others, o rings. With 55psi you getting at the max of a stock headgasket. Upgrading is usually around the corner.

Im running the A1 H11s had them for a year now, I put 55 psi to em with the sb66 more times than I can count. I know you have a different gasket and such just letting you know of my experience with my studs.

so ive decided im not going to run nitrous but i dont have the 600 bucks to have the head work done for o-ringing. what different head gaskets are out there and how can i tell if one is better then the other?

I run ARP 12mm and a stock cummins head gasket. I generally run about 50psi of boost, but have hit as high as 75psi once, and haven't had any issues to date.

Why are the diesel studs so high? I am used to $95-150 for a set of ARP studs when I was into drag racing gas engines.

I don't know why you wouldn't wait until you can afford to o-ring. The going rate to have orings cut into your head is $350. If a shot asks for more then keep shopping. $400 for head studs and $350 for orings your at 750 for a setup that you don't have to pucker up and hold your breath everytime you flog on your truck.

At 55psi with just head studs, my HG lasted 3mo. My friends 01 with just head studs lasted 15K miles at 46-48psi. Another local 02 with just head studs at 52psi lasted 8K miles.

$350 is really cheap for just piece of mind knowing that your head gasket is safe.

Of course, just my opinion, since I've been there done that.

If you can afford for the truck to be down run it like it is with just the studs, but if you need it daily, schedule the time for it to be down and get it oringed.

If the shops not busy you can drop the head off in the morning and it will be done that evening.

I tore my truck down and had Josh Woodruff cut the o-rings in the block, took 3-4 hrs by the time all the clean up and everything was done.
