I am in need of a new Transmission I currently have a 47re in my Fummins but I want to change over to a 47rh. who should I get a tranny from? Georend doesn't have any 47rh's, so it is down to PATC or ATS I have heard some iffy things about ATS but I have not heard anything about PATC but I really like what they say about how they build their transmissions. Anyone worked with either of these folks. Is there anyone else I should talk to?

Thanks

I like my DTT one ok. the only thing that ever failed was the torque converter lockup, thats been addressed in their new stuff. Theres an updated input shaft but at my power level its a non-issue.
Im looking to transplant my motor into a ford someday. sick of the dodge junk wrapped around it.

why do you want a 47RH? they both do the same things. Just stick with the RE and have goerend build it

4r100 from bts my boss is running one in his fummins and a customer is too pretty much the best way to go. That's if you wanna spend the money on a adapter and a pcs.

Kawi600- I will have to look into the DTT stuff. Thanks for the info.

YOUNG GUNS15- My 47re is dead I really just bought it because I needed the adapter plate so I took a chance on the tranny. the rh is not electric so I don't need a manual VB or a stand alone controller that are hard to find or expensive (ATS Controller $1800.00 IIRC) I could use that money to add stuff to the rh, or the motor.

txdodge97- Running a 4r100 was a thought but I would need a stand alone and adapter plate and I would have to put my old input shaft back into my transfer case (that was a PITA the first go around) the only thing I have to do if go with the rh is modify my drive shafts. Replacing my tranny is now going to make the cost of this build go up 2.5 times. What part of Spring Branch are you in? I am in Spring Branch too.

2000_fummins- I had not thought of bts or transgo I will look into that.

Thanks all for your input this is what I kneed to know.

Go 4r100 witch bts an transgo does. Yes it will be a bit more costly but you will never have to mess with it again.

The 47rh still requires an electronic signal (ground IIRC) to control convertor lock-up and overdrive. It can be controlled with simple hobbs switches, but is not totally electronics free.

What do you mean Goerend doesn't have any 47rh? If he's out of stock you could probably pick one out of a junkyard to have him rebuild.

Im about 2 miles east of 281 i dunno if you know where texas 46 bar and grill is, i live right there. Yeah i hear you on the transfercase and driveshafts but the 4r100 is where it is at.

you pretty much answered your own question by saying you dont want a 4r100 or a 47re so you need to find a rh. Not being a dick just pointing out the obvious.

Yeah I am too far into this conversion to switch to the 4R100 (even though that was my original plan) before I go that route I will change it over to a nv4500 or zf5 or even an Eaton Fuller I just don't want to deal with a stand alone not that I can't do it I just don't want to mess with it. But I want it to be easy for my wife to drive so the automatic is it. Plus I was trying to see how cheap I could get this conversion done, to this point I am only at about $1000.00 out of pocket and I have a few of the 6.0l parts and some cummins parts to sell still.

White Knight- you are correct it will need power for the TC lockup and the OD. I was going to get a couple of hobbs switches and a hook up a switch to the throttle for kick down.
I called Georends and they said they only rebuild rh's that you send them, they will no longer find the cores. I just don't want to mess with getting an rh core to send to them.

ozone burner- yes, I want a 47rh. I just wanted to get some input on who I should get one from and who I should stay away from.

Have you talked to Garmon? I know a great guy local to me, but that's not close to you.

White Knight- Talked to Garmon yesterday . Big Swole sent me Jeffs info. Thanks for the reply.

Can't beat Dave Goerend. Rock solid transmissions/convertors!

Just an update.
Placed an order for a 47rh transmission from Garmons Deisel Performance. Should be getting it late next week or early the week after. :drive:

Thanks to everyone for their comments.

I don't know if you ordered a converter also but I like my Suncoast Triple Disk a lot and they are reasonalby priced.

Yes I the transmission comes with a billit triple disk converter.I didn't even think about sun coast. thanks for the info

You will be real happy with Jeff Garmon! He builds an awesome trans.
