Transmissions

i need to rebuild mine dont wanna tear it out and not have a truck in the mean while

so this is what im wondering i got a buddy with a first gen tranny setting in the yard i have a second gen his is two wheel drive mines 4 wheel drive
mines 47rh his is 618 im thinking
can i build a 618 and just swap tail section can that be done????

You won't have a lockup convertor, the adapter is different. I'm sure there is some other stuff.

well i been reading a few days now. im going to try teseting my tps,and everything else.before i rebuild. my trucks stock and gonna stay that ways shifts good...just not linke it use to.

Well when I first the truck it shifted like a dream. it would lock up and throw some nice smoke about 40 mph. then it got to where the thing wouldnt un lock at 25 mph and the whole truck would shake it u let it start to idel down. it use to run 80 at 2000 now its at 70 at two grand I had a problem to with the brake lights staying on and not letting it in to over drive. Its a head ache
