like what the title says..whats a longer transmission from the bellhousing to the back of the tailhousing? had people tell me the 5 speed is longer, others have said its shorter? :bang
They are different lengths i know that. I converted a 01 from 47RE to nv4500 and had to get a shaft made. Thats been a long time ago and i think it had to be lengthened because i remeber getting a new tube and supplying my ends.
The splines on the output shaft are different on the 2wd. 4wd you can use all the original parts behind the transmission. the guy that I bought my 2wd 5 spd for my swap im doing soon said it was longer than the 47re. Idk so damn confusing trying to rangle up all the pieces for the puzzle.
I just remember cutting the ends off my donor 2 piece shaft and having a new single made now that im thinking about it. 5 years makes things fuzzy. I know i did a write up back then that might have something useful in it. You may be able to search threads i started to see if you can find it.
yeah i read your thread that you started. the way its starting to look is that ill have to get a new one made..around here its about 200 +/-. what was the purpose for reflashing your ecm? ive seen people get away with the stock one.
It cant read the output sensor and wouldnt fuel over 2000 rpms. It kept it in limp mode all the time. I cheated the computer by grounding the neutral safety constantly letting the pcm think it was always in neutral and fixed the limp mode problem. I noticed sitting in the yard i could push the clutch and free rev to around 3500 rpm but if i let out the clutch it would fall to 2000-2200 and stumble on itself. I just grounded that wire to the stud holding break assembly in and no more issue.
i figured. you saying it went into limp mode made me have to think a little bit outside the box that it wasnt on a 12 valve haha. but i should get my bellhousing in tomorrow maybe, if i can try to get an accurate measurement on the 47re in the truck now i can compare it to the nv4500 i have sitting waiting to be put in.
