hey guys im starting to gather parts for a new project I'm doing ,, so far i have a lb7 d max that im planing on putting in a 67 1 ton 4x4,, my question in what is the zf good for hp wise and is there parts available for them , ie billit shafts. Or do u think i would be better off adapting a nv 4500 to it and have someone like southbend build me a clutch. my goal once i'm done will be 750 hp thanks

It should live.

I broke the end off the main shaft pulling in 2nd high range. Very grippy track, Heavy sled , Triple disk, and a heavy foot. I put it back together with a stock shaft. Pulling in high range was a bad idea. It should be just fine in low range. The list of people that have over powered the ZF6 is very few.

how much hp is darius warne putting through his ? that would be a good indication.

He is still Stock turbo so I would guess under 550rwhp. Both Evan, and I are a more than a couple bills past that.

I was mistaken then. I had thought Merchant had installed a turbo a couple months ago. I didn't mean to discount either one of you guys.

No broken parts here yet, been in the 575hp range for 2 years now, should be a bit more then that now and still working great, 4th gear syncros could use some lovin but thats to be expected!

I've sled pulled with it many times, and dynoed 550 to the ground with 40" tires...so it will hold.

The key is to pull in low range like what these guys said. I'm also running a SBC DD...

at what level do you commonly develope the "hard pedal" condition?

At almost anything beyond stock power grocery getter!!!

More power will do it more often but they will do it stock as well! A solid flywheel kit solves the problem!
