I went to adjust my valves today and found the piece the rocker arm pushes on, between the rocker and the bridge, is broken on #2 intake. All others are in one piece. I took a pic with my phone, you can kinda see it if you blow it up, and you can see the exhaust right next to it is intact. What is this piece called (so I can order it) and why did it break (so I dont do it again)

I'm not real sure if its plastic or not, I didnt pull it off because I was afraid I'd damage it further and not be able to drive the truck (its all I got). If I knew what case tractor had an ISB in it, I'd look it up in my parts book.

PM Snedge or call Mumau Diesel. He will get you what you need, but I would image the whole arm needs to be replaced. I doubt they sell just the metal cup. Either way, you won't be breaking the bank.

Second Gens should be metal, not plastic.

98-00 were all metal, after that they have a plastic keeper ring. But don't believe me, check the parts book.

To the op, you will have to buy the entire rocker lever. 50 bucks new from cummins. or find a used one. I've got about 50 of them or so laying around. If you cant fine one local, $10 bucks for my trouble plus shipping of $4.85, paypal to me and you can have one from me. you might check ebay too.

Do you have a matching set for all 6 cylinders from a 98-00 truck with the metal cups?

Nah those things are hot, seems like everybody that comes into my shop wants them. But shoot i've got dozens of the 01 and 02 rockers hahaha

Well I was just going to tell Clint to buy a whole set of the older metal style. It seems they work on the 5.9 CRs as well.

I run without them little plastic pieces on 3 cylinders for about 8k miles. No problems, maybe someone will tell me it is a bad idea? I have spares now.

if your lash loosens up or you push some rpms you'll lose them and your motor aint gunna run real nice when you do, they would probably end up falling down the pushrod hole in the head and end up on the ledge under the pushrod inspection cover on the side of the motor, they always fall down there it seems like. But it aint nothin to just keep on keepin on if they dont fall out on ya.

Have you checked on ebay i bought a set from a 99 for $50 bucks back in the summer for my 03 CR 2.6 puller. That was exhaust and intake too.

Have you checked to see if the valves open? Maybe the valves are stuck closed and thats what broke the rocker tip off. I must have a dozen or so set of rockers for a 24v engines.:hehe:

Never seen a rocker break like that before. Keep us posted on what you find out.
