Whats wrong with my truck. . .

Hello, im new to the site, and dont really know where to start. This morning i went to start my 01 Dodge cummins the truck started but was running very rough sounding like it was missing, stuttering and surging and when i pressed the gas peddle white smoke would come out of the exhaust. . does anyone have an idea whats going on? any imput would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

God smote it down cause of your user name? Water in fuel?

Does it run smooth after warm? Check for codes by doing the key dance... Key on-off-on-off-on and then watch the odometer it will read "PCU" and give any present codes then it will say "p done" then read "ECU" and read codes there... if you get a 0216 code your injection pump is dieing.

Sounds like what my 2000 was doing. Didn't throw the death code but it was definetly a bad vp. After it warmed up it would run fine but it would have dead pedal pretty often.
