either what trucking companys are using it or what rigs are currently on the road using it

i think its the next biggest thing in the trucking industry. flying j is riggin up all their truckstops with it.

cummins/cat.pete/kenworth/volvo..all the big manuf are comin out with cng rigs..

Ruan transport hauls milk from fair oaks dairy with cng internationals over here. They are easy to spot very weird looking tanks and a big box on the back behind the cab

No flatbed companies around here use it that I know of.....

The systems are a royal PITA to maintain. They get very poor fuel mileage, have no torque for climbing hill whatsoever and in order to get the same range as diesel trucks you need to have 5-600 gal fuel capacity.

I'm a Volvo tech and haven't heard anything about these trucks yet... Hmm

I worked on stationary natrual gas engines. They sucked. I can only imagine how much they must suck in big trucks

agreed. Its not the next big thing for big trucks, it might just be the next thing someone needs to try.

I've worked on lots of emergency standby generators that were CNG as well. they were natural gas Series60 detroits. and lots smaller. they do that for ease of fuel delivery usually because its on the roof of an office building. infrastructure is already there for gas.

I've got a pickup that is bi fuel CNG/gasoline. CNG is 1.49 per gallon here in Utah which kind of makes up for the frequent fill ups and crummy mileage. the tank in my truck is 12 gallons and takes up as much space as your average aluminum tool box.

I've seen trucks filling at the station with LNG (liquified natural gas) not sure on the specifics but it would certainly be more dense than CNG. likely more expensive though, due to the refrigeration process.

Lng Is pretty dangerous, but its very dense and very cold. Its used a lot for generating electricity.

Well until they get the price down it will NEVER take off. Cummins Westport said it ADDS $80,000 to the price of a truck. And I mean ADDS, so if the truck cost $100,000 it would cost $180,000 to make it CNG. Even they admit it would never pay for itself, and they make them.

Swap the CNG for LNG and it takes something like 2 hrs to refuel.

the return on inv for alot of the garbage co's..fed ex delivery co's are makin it work

it odes take a while if its lng but for fleets that dont run 24-7 its a win...and the new cummins westport 12 liter is comin out in jan..its a ready not a retro..its cheaper..maybe 160 k tractor...big co's are makn it work

just wonderingif anyones got exp firsthand with em

Unit costs are always high at first when production is low

Waste Management out here is changing their fleet over to them. I see more and more every day with it.

For sure city fleets, med duty body jobs, and daily line hauls could get away with it. I saw the entire bus fleet in Anaheim is cng.

But long haul. I can't see it.

Sooooo who's going to bite the bullet and order enough to get volume up? Oh that's right the tax payers through subsidies!

I'd like to know where they get $80k to build a NG engine? Different head, different pistons and an ignition system doesn't seem like $80k worth of junk.

its anew design..so far the gubberment hasnt fuked it up with subs..the low price and unending supply...hehe,,yeah... of nat gas is making it very attractive

want some links to it?
