I'm getting ready to have my cam and studs installed and I'm wondering if I really need push rods?
At what point are they really needed?
I have what's in my sig and I don't do any sled pulling or drag racing, I'd like to be in the 600-650 range somewhere and would like to hear some thoughts!

Thanks Fellas,
Buddy

From what I've been told you really don't need them, there are some trucks pushing 120psi of boost with stock ones, save the money and spend it elsewhere especially if you're looking for 600-650

alot of people have made lots of power on stockers, but i guess a little added security never hurts

I don't know who might provide them here, but the folks at Manton Pushrods have always treated me right.

My cousin bent one in his CR with a stock motor... but then again I wouldn't let him near my anvil with a rubber mallet either.

I would rather my stockers bend then having the damage somewhere else, cause if they were gonna bend and don't go ahead and follow the yellow brick road to where the damage will be caused,

I don't see how a push rod can ever really effect hp directly

boost amount shouldn't matter as well.

There are 2 reasons to upgrade push rods as I see it; big cam with huge spring pressure and/or lots of rpm and heat with lots of stress over time

the push rod is relaxed and stationary and unloaded the majority of the time

stock push rod for most of us is like a stock output shaft for the auto truck. Cheap weak link.
