im looking for the best chip for my 01 dodge 2500 24v cummins ive been told the quadzilla adrillen and smarty where good choices i need some cold hard facts about the best chip for my truck and why its the best thank you

Dodge's don't use "chips" ;-)

Quad ADR seems to be the hot thing right now. But it's pretty hard to beat the proven power of the old Edge Comp boxes. Plus you can pick one up used now for about $350-400....

Smarty is good, but doesn't tap the pump wire so won't get you near the top power of a a fueling box. However you get more flexibility, and responsiveness from the smarty. Add a fueling box to it, and you get the best of both worlds.

IMHO it'd be either a cheap drag comp used, or a smarty with a fueling box.... I'm still on the fence about the Quad ADR.

What are you looking for out of the chip?

For all out power either the Quadzilla Adrenaline, Edge Comp (or Juice), or if you really want to spend some money a FMS Redline is going to work the best. All of these are going to require you to do some transmission upgrading sometime in the near future.

For towing your best option is the Smarty but if you don't want to spend the money another good option is the Diablo Power Puck. The Smarty does give the added features of reading and erasing trouble codes though and stacks great with just about anything to give you awesome low end power.

Don't forget about the Blue Chip FMS. Although it doesn't give the upper RPM of the fueling, I wouldn't trade mine for any of the options out there. Fuels just as hard as the Edge Comp or TST, but doesn't have the nasty de-fueling shutter that you get with those options.

They are very expensive, but completely worth it in my humble opinion. Stacked with a SMARTY, they offer endless programming options. There are 64 different settings on the FMS, and a few hundred different settings on the SMARTY.. Although, I've never tried any setting but "kill" on either of them for long.. There is no set phasers to stun in my book. :)

I have the edge juice with att. and have liked it so far, you can change settings while driving, control the smoke, turbo timer, and it has back down, and all the gauges in one, you alomst dont even have to watch gauges becouse it will beep at you if you set it up to. to me the edge is a mild chip compared to others but has plenty for what I do, and I wouldnt trust there gauges in extreme conditions, but if your not hookin or racing its great, I also went from 14-16 mpg to 18-20 mpg from stock to running the edge on the higher levels (added timing???) it all depends on what your doing with it.
I bet if you watch classifides you can get one with monitor for $400

i vote j/a its great if you dont already have guages. other wise i would get somthing that has more punch but i am starting to lean more to drag racing. j/a if you are dd it

X2

I have one for sale too, this box rocks, it just wont work with my P-Pump

If you're looking for the power I would take 2001cummins up on that deal. I've been running the edge comp with the smarty and I love it. If you get an edge comp you might want to send it to edge to have it updated unless its already been updated lately, it cost me nothing to do mine.

EDGE DRAG COMP way too go and easy to use and user friendly and it turns your truck alive.

Yea it's definitly user friendly. after the hook up all you have to do is hit arrow up or arrow down unless you want to fine tune it with the sub levels, but thats easy too.

not tryin to kill the sale for u 2001cummins...... but adren has a lot of really nice features and is producing a ton of power, quad IS still working the bugs out of this new box.... but IMO this box blew the doors off my drag comp (even with it being stock)

im gonna have to agree with bbtank. i have pretty much stock truck and used to have a drag comp. it was nice and made good power increases, but once i got the adr, i saw what i was missing. i can get about 10 to 13 more psi, spools the trubo faster, and IMO hasa good amount more power than the drag comp. if it was a vote id go ADR. bugs r getting workd out as we speak. it does have a small surging prob on the interstate but new tunes r suppose to fix that, just havent had time to download them.

.......the custom tuning is the best part about this box,.... if u have the surging box, send it back to quad they will fix the box,.... trust me i still have faith in quad, even after i had my box melt to my fuse box.... they were that apologetic and helpful
