white smoke, misses, no power at all

got a 02 truck, it smokes badly when you rev it up, and misses. has no power at all. very sluggish. with the scanner i get the p0216 code, and i here this meaans a definate bad vp44. i guess i would just like to here another opinion, and kinda wondering why it still starts so easily?

Mine did that same thing but it turned out to be leaky cross over tubes. Never threw any codes though obviously so Its probly your VP. It's something easy to check though before spending $1200 on a new pump?
 
Mine just did the same thing, and all replies were the VP and it threw the same code, so I ordered a pump.
 
Must be that time of the month. Seems like everyboy is losing their pumps lately *knocks on wood*
 
Mine just went to shop for similar occurance. I didn't have any codes though, start it up it would have a rough idle and smoke like crazy. Just have a tad over 30,000 on my vp. Hoping its just injectors or somthing else simple.:nail:
