Post up...who makes the biggest drop in cam for the CR's

If you have numbers to back up your post please post them up!!!

Have you looked at Hamiltons' website? There is some good reading on there about cams.

Careful, also biggest drop in can also mean closest piston to valve clearance.... do your homework. A good cam should have at least 75 thousands piston to valve clearance. 100thousands would be ideal.

Lavon

My"BIG CAM"had .075 clearance and I still had .050 reliefs cut in the pistons to be safe....I think I have the decimal at the right place

Go with Helix from F1. I dont have any numbers but its whats in my Red truck and its pretty good proof.

Talk to the cam builders simple as that, We are almost finished on our new camshaft and have been doing alot of testing and it is another drop in that will be available i will not say its the biggest and baddest because we are all working on new and improved cams, but it works very well and are pleased with the results. Who has the biggest drop in? I doubt you will be able to get a customers feed back if they know if the company that they use has the biggest drop in. I believe that will only be answered by the company themselves because they should be able to build what you are asking for even if it is a custom grind in a drop in. I respect all the cam builders and will not get into a pissing match with anyone ill be happy to answer the question that im aloud to or point you in the direction where you can get answers from the horses mouth himself. Thanks again and goodluck with the camshaft you select.

Very well explained...I wasn't sure how to give an honest answer without starting a pissing match...

Wouldn't it be pretty simple: look at the specs?
I admit I'm new to diesels, but in any other vehicle you don't buy from places that don't give the specs. That way you know what you're getting.

Specs for Hamilton, F1, and Maxspool have all been posted...one word, SEARCH!!!

As for Diesel Pro's cams, never seen anything concrete from them yet, other than a lot of talk.

I run F1...they work for me, drop right in, and are in some of the highest powered CR's in the country.

And that's my point. You don't vote on what cam is bigger. You look at the specs and see. Strange poll.

I would imagine this has been said before but it is not easy to tell everything when given only the peak lobe lift and duration at .050". A 181/210 cam could clear the pistons by a mile or smash the valves into oblivion depending upon where the intake center line is, what the lobe separation angle is, and what lobes are used. This information is very unlikely to be disclosed over the interweb otherwise the R&D the retailers/developers have invested would be all for nothing.

Moral, best to pick up the phone and call.

Our

our 181/210 is not the biggest for sure. How close do you want to get to the piston? when do you want your exhaust to open? I can get you as big as you want if you are willing to degree it in and check your clearances. As simple as that. Probably the biggest I would say you could get a way with would be a
199/218 .339" intake .330" exh. Intake at 101 degree centerline with a 107.5 lobe separation. Because of the bigger duration especially on the intake you will loose a bit of bottom end compared to our 181/210. On the top end it will definately outperform a 181/210. If you are planning to race or to sledpull it would be a great cam, if you are wanting to daily drive, you would be best served with a typical drop in.

As far as who has the biggest, any of the cam grinders can throw a big grind on a cam for you, when you just look at the most duration/lift you are not really looking at the big picture.

biggest drop in cam for the cr

Brian Block makes the biggest cam for the cr its called the snapper

Lets do this, this thread is for peoples knowledge of what manufacturer makes the largest drop in cam for a CR. If you have any knowledge then lets hear it but the fact is NO ONE COMPANY MAKES THE LARGEST CAM.

This is not a cheerleader thread so if all you have to say is...........

F1 is the best i vote for them :cheer:

Hamilton is the best i voted for them :cheer:

Diesel pros is the best i voted for them :cheer:

etc etc, then ill edit where i need to
