Who's running a 16cm SS with a 66 compressor?

As stated above. Specifically, anyone running it on a 12 valve auto tranny? How is spool up and driveability and how loose of a converter is necessary to get it spooled?

Currently running 66/71/13 with good spoolup but wanting more top end. I need to be able to daily drive but want to stick with 66 compressor for truck pulling. I've got the AFC pretty well tuned now to match the turbo. I'm thinking about going to the 16cm housing (swap my 13cm for reasonable $) as opposed to going with a whole new turbo set up (bigger $). Head is ported and O-ringed, stock cam too.

Give me some thoughts and ideas if you can.

I want my cake and diesel fuel too.

How laggy is the 16? I really ease into the 13 now to not black out the road. I can only imagine it would get worse.

Any other suggestions on set ups. Really don't want twins ($$).

I'm running one on my 96. Mines alittle laggy but not bad, but i'm running a 5 spd. Mine lites fairly easy. You can drive around the smoke.

I know Joe farmer ran one for a while with a DTT trans, but from the sounds of it you might wanna look at keeping your 13cm and getting External Gate spacer and a 50mm gate to run like this.

Haven't checked TIP pressures, but can see 50 - 55 psi boost on the street if I stand on it, 20 - 30 psi with above average driving but very controllable temps and cruising psi 4 - 6 psi with 750 - 850 EGT's. Haven't ever been able to check the boost gauge when pulling, so not sure where it's at under worst of situations, also EGT's off the gauge (1500*) with pulls.

I know that 1:1 is best, but at what point would an external gate be beneficial? In otherwords, is there a set ratio that when exceeded provides benefits or is it more trial and error with each truck.

Sounds like an external gate might give best-of-both world results. Thanks for input.
