buddy has a dually with 3.55's that locked up and we were goin to use all the internal stuff outta my 01 5 speed that is 3.55's to fix it.... im wanting to put 4.10's in the 01 so we thought if they will work with the dually we'd just do that.... i know nothing at all about rear ends or what they consist of so it was just a thought since they were both 3.55's

i know if he doesnt tow heavy alot he may not like the lower gears i hate mine running up and down the road. truck is singing at highway speeds

if they are the same axle then they will swap over, like both dana 70's. the problem you are going to run in to is getting the gears "set up". if you have never installed a set of gears before then i would eather have some one do it or have some one that has done alot of gear jobs help. there is things that need to be set like pinion depth, back lash and the wear pattern. on used gears the ring and pinion have already been worn in to each other and its alot harder to get the wear pattern set up. you put marking compound on the teeth were the ring and pinon mesh and see where they wear on the teeth. anyways i would never put used gears in anything that you want to see alot of miles out of. just my thoughts. :blahblah1:

It should work, your truck being a manual means it has the hybrid 80 with the same R&P as the Dually. Nothing else will swap over though. What year is the Dually? Spline count on the axles changed at one point.

Just because it should work, it will not be that costly to replace everything with new and have a whole lot more durability. Used gears are going to whine, can he live with that?
