I am trying to buy some twins, but as of right now I doubt I will be able to afford them in time for august blackout in Edmonton.

But a buddy of mine has offered me one of his turbos, and it is as follows:

Garrett 4202, The compressor is 74/102 0.60 a/r, the turbine is 82 and 1.15 A/R.

It is supposed to flow 100lbs a minute.

Do you guys figure I can get this unit to spool? And how much bigger is it than my silverbullet? (as in how much differnt will it be for spool, HP etc)

Thanks

Kevin

Only thing that you may need to change is the turbine housing and make sure it's ball-bearing!

I have a 12v, so the spool is a bit slower...but I'm running a GT4294R...which is one size smaller and ball bearing, with a 1.01A/R housing. Drives OK, but doesn't really spool until about 22-2400RPM. With your CR, you might get a couple hundred faster...but not with a bigger, journal bearing unit.

If I had a loose TC, I think I'd love this thing...with my DTT, it's too tight:D Really rocks and rolls once you're up on top of it though:D

with an auto the 1.15 will be tough to get lit. If you can get a 1.01 housing it might be ok, you will struggle to get the charger lit though unless you have a loose convertor.

What about if I use a little spray to lite it up? It isnt the BB unit, still should work though? I imagine once it lites it will be a beast..

Oooopss, lol. Will the built in wastegate handle the spray? Another thing I guess I should mention is that I am not very worried about how it will drive on the street

I would imagine if you arent worried about street manners, and you are using nitrous to light it at the track, that it will be just fine.

I have an .050 jet to help spool it...haven't got to try that out though. Fighting an oil pressure problem!

And the wastegate should be OK...keep it around 45psi if you want it to live. It will handle 60-70psi for a few passes, but not very long:D

So not the 70 or 80+ that i was shoving at my SB? LOL Question, why dosent it like more than 45, you would think that with a big turbo like that it would really pump the air? Will I still be able to have the same ammount of HP with this turbo at 45 as my sb at 60?

Umm...that's a 2.95" wheel...not a measly little 2.6" wheel like a SB, and it should have a bigger turbine wheel, and a bigger housing. More air in and more air out;)

Bigger wheels don't like spinning that fast...and 45psi out of that charger is WAY more than 45psi out of a 66...not to mention cooler air!

Oh yeah...NO, you will not be able to have the same power as you SB...you'll have the potential for more!

Just going off of memory here, but iirc the 4202 peaks out at about 95lbs/min @ 50psi.

On a race truck with some spray it should be a monster.

So if I gate it around 50ish, and spray, I should do just fine then! Thats what I want to hear,, I really want to get some races in this year,

95lbs/min at 48psi...you were pretty darn close. But that is the EDGE of the map...I'd still shoot for 45psi on the juice to be safe;)

Lol, not bad for 2 years ago... A good friend of mine runs this on his drag honda, Makes around 900 - 1000hp depending on the dyno and who you ask. :bang

Runs low 9's at ~ 170mph.

Regardless I did the charge piping for him, So I remember the turbo fairly intimately. :hehe:

Im sure glad you can read those graphs, they throw me for a loop, too close together for my eyes.

So this by the sounds of it is going to work just fine for me till I can get my twins done. This is good news..... a racing we will go, a racing we will go!!! LOL

Im excited again

With a smaller ex housing or a s400 ex housing, you will be much happier. If it's a divided housing, make sure the adapter plate is divided too.

I agree,, and will. The price and availability on this one cant be beat!
