I am getting prepared to put a manual VB in my 12 valve and I am having problems with my OD and lock up switches. I started with my converter lockup switch, it works as advertised. But I am having problems with my Overdrive switch. I put a switch grounding out the number 6 pin which is the ground from TCM to Overdrive solenoid. At first when I started the truck and put it in drive the torque converter would immediately lock, stalling the engine. I cut the brown wire in between the pcm and the tap that is going to the switch. It worked perfectly for 1 test drive. I parked it at the shop, then went to go home. Same problem. The converter locks as soon as you put it in drive. Question Is, What am I doing Wrong? I know there are other guys with manual valve bodies in a 47re. How did you override the PCM\TCM? Thanks for any help!

Did the problem all start after adding the switches or was any other trans work done at the same time?

With the switches turned off, check pin 6 and 7 with a test light, both pins should have power and illuminate the test light. If the test light does not illuminate at pin 6 or 7 your in 4th gear and/or lockup.

Well problems started after adding the switches. Basically here is what's going on. I have a 47re with a manual valve body and all the goodies waiting to go in to the truck. I wanted to get the shifter and all the wiring installed so I can just pull the old one, install the new one, and be ready to go. My TC lock up switch works fine. But my od switch is giving me fits. When I'm on the freeway, I can turn off the OD button on the dash and control OD with my switch. But then the torque converter stays locked no mater what I do until I turn the truck off then on again.

IIRC, the solenoids share a common wire. With a full manual VB, I have to turn off both the TC lock and the OD to shift from OD. I'm guessing it's the residual solenoid voltage keeping the other one enabled.
