I have this head i took it to the machine shop they took it apart cleaned it and started to blast it. They called me and said your head is cracked and we dont have any way of pressure testing it. Here are some pics they are hair line cracks.

thats just the problem the engine I got this head off of was a friend of mine that got a big settlement and bought all kinds of junk and ran the absolute piss out of every thing. It blew a hg and one of his retard friends helped him put it back on and it still ate coolant. so im kinda scared of it. I need my excursion back together like yesterday. cummins has a REMAN head on the shelf for $1025

body off to do the head I wanna do it rite on the first try. It took 5 hours to get to the head off. Its either pull engine or pull body.

If you think it may be pressurizing coolant, then scrap it. No sense causing a bunch of work for yourself especially if it has questionable history.

I know pure has that one but this is my dd and I kinda needed a head last Monday lol

I say replace it. Cracks don't go away they get bigger. Don't wast your money on what you have.

Order from PureDieselPower & rent a cheap car.

You'll be money ahead that way vs buying one for $1025.

If your head (or HG) is leaking and pressurizes the coolant, will the pressure bleed back off through the same leaks if the truck is sitting for days?

Well I ended up pickin the head up from cummins said and done out the door with core, head gasket, intake plate gasket, and exhaust manifold gaskets. I spent $1182.57 with tax and I have it all now just the time to slap it back on and bolt the body back down.

I wouldn't run it personally.

Edit; I should have read through the whole thing. Glad you got another head to run.
