i just made a new down pipe for my truck, im wondering if i should spend the money to wrap it. will i notice any differences? in cab noise? under hood heat? etc

Thanks

it would reduce heat on the dp. but still you have your manifold that gets hotter than that..

cool thanks guys. my manifold is sprayed w/ some ceramic paint, worked real well for a $10 can, after driving my truck i can get out and after a min or 2 i can touch it for about a second, where the turbo is too hot to get close to touching. I think i might pull the turbo apart and spray it also.

I did blankets and downpipe wrap on my truck. Quieter, way cooler underhood temps.

There is no comparison between ceramic rattle can paint and blankets....as far as that goes there is no comparison between real ceramic coating and blankets.
I have both...the blankets win hands down.

i agree, but, i dont have $200 to spend on something i dont need.

i think the blankets are great

got a friend in the industry (kinda)

(he does maint and installations at a nucular power plant)

wonder if he can get me the stuff and i can sew it up myself...

humm...no, i dont know how to sew but for 100 bucks/hr i am willing to figure it out

dont they do more than just keep the temps down and dont they increase power in another way besides keeping underhood temps down? dont they hold the heat (energy) in the system and actually make power as in on a dyno?

i learned a new term last summer outside of vegas

'too hot for the load' - she wasnt turned up then - this summer i think it will just be 'too hot period'

I read your post 4 times and I still have no idea what you're talking about. LOL

If you decide to sew up your own set, make sure you use a high temperature thread too, if not, it will burn the seam right out of it the first time it sees some good heat.

lol

shoot, didnt even think about that

like i said, not thinking very clearly right now

haha, okay, "same as it ever was"

um, as a person who didnt believe in these blankets when i bought mine, i would do it again. ceramic coating doesnt even compare. if you think about it, if you were to drop $200 on this whole kit, you would be more than pleased with the results. quicker spool, lower egts(of course depending on the truck, mine, yes), and lower under hood temps. even the turbo blanket alone is a huge difference.
