Fleece Cheetah Compound Setup

Not Enough time
Hey Guys, I have a 63 Cheetah (hx35). looking to build a compound setup. Has anyone used one in compounds yet? If so what primary would I use? Kind of of looking for a 650-750 Power towing setup. Are waste gate mods necessary for the Cheetah to keep drive pressures down? I'm considering the 472SXE with a 1.0 or a 1.10 , Ideas? Thanks

I would go bigger than a 72 and bigger than an 1.10 AR on the primary and possibly an external gate on the manifold (I'm not sure what fleece does to the gate on those). In my opinion 650+ on a 12v tow rig is pushing it. They just don't have the tuning for it to keep it controllable. It can be done and others will say it can be done but I personally wouldn't shoot for more than 500hp on a 12v that still tows.

I should have stated that I meant power tow as i want 650ish and dont tow heavy at all, sleds and a small boat at times. Nothing over 3000 lbs lol

83 and 87 turbine S400s in 1.1 housings do surprisingly well as atmospheric turbos in compounds. They are a bit of a different animal than the usual 96x88 in the 1.32 housing.

Throw a box big turbine 475 for cheap on there and it will run good, wanted to try a s475/87 and some kind of t6 housing if they're even available, on my 12v work truck I don't have anymore.

83/87 472 and the 476sxe's are the ones i have been looking at. Those SXE's are only offered in T4.

Cast 75mm/83 turbine with T6 1.1 housing if it were my truck. Maybe a billet replacement if you really wanted it. Drive pressure will be a bit of a concern at that power level, though.

Don't try to spin its guts out and I think it would be fine. I still want to try a 179176 with a t6 housing on it. Though I will probably settle for a 4202 lol.

the box 475 works and works well, however there are much better towing primaries out there. the 96mm wheel is a bit hard to get out of bed.

I do believe Power driven rates their towing twins conservatively at 650hp for a k27 over a s369sxe. Since the k27 is the choke point with a fleece secondary I think it would work well and spool quickly. I made 1004rwbp on a single 369sxe non gated and it lived for 5,000 miles once I figured out how to use it

I mean soon were gonna have a 75/87 turbo that will cost $1300 in billet form and a 75/83 that will cost $1000 in billet form. You didn't hear that yet, though ;)

I do have a 369sxe I could use as a primary and just get a k27 to complete a set of towing twins I guess. My main concern is etg's, im tired of always watching the gauge. I know Power Drive has done lots of testing on that setup, anyone else have experience with if on a 12v?

I have ran a stocker over an s366 and had wonderful success. the thing was a beast to tow with. however I ran stock injectors. I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to tune 5x14's to work with those 2 turbos. put a big non gated housing on the 369.
