I am gettig ready to buy a 1995-1997 either f-250 crew cab short bed 4x4 or a f-350 crew cab long bed 4x4.Anyone have any idea what I should expext as far as gas mileage goes. Thanks Chip

Well, chip. You've got to tell us what transmission your looking for, for starters. The biggest factors are probably going to be 1. Your driving style. 2. Rear end gears, you can get 4.10's which are good for pulling but rather slow going when compared to 3.55's.

well if i was easy on my F350 with 3.55s i could pulla bout 17 or 18 mpg the heavier that right foot gets the faster it goes down

I get between 16 and 19 empty depending on where I am driving. I got over 20 once when I had to drive it at 55 for 200 miles.

When I had my 97 F350 CC 4x4 auto w/4.10s I would average 16-18 mpg around town & 18-19 on the highway

On diesel I get between 18-22mpg mixed highway and street milage with 3.55's. When i first got the truck it had 2 bad injectors and 14mpg was about all it would mangae.

...never ran it on gas though

RE

ALLMTR5.0 Did you have anthing done to your 97 CC?Any mods? Also by your user name It looks like we have other things besides diesel trucks in common

I average 18-19 depending on what setting the chip and my foot is in, with the chip on stock runnin 70mph on the interstate i can get around 21.5 or so on long trips. thats a ZF 5spd with 3:55's

:thankyou2: :hehe:

On diesel, I get anywhere from 14 to 19 depending on my mood. That's with a 5 speed and 4:10 gears. Oh and a Gear Vendors OD.

im getting about 10-12 on my 96 250 crew cab short bed auto, but im also running 9inches of lift and lugging round 38s. and thats with an intake downpipe and stacks

My wife gets 35 mpg ( GAS ) in her 6 cyl. car. But I get 17-20 mpg. in my 02 7.3 PSD it's (FUEL mileage!)

Getting 20-22 mpg with 96 E-350. 3.55 gearing auto. Pulling enclosed double car trailer from Calif. to Indy and weighing 19,980 lbs. I got 10-11 mpg. Now that's all highway! That was all stock set up.

I never got better than high 13s in town when I had the (bone stock) PSD in. I never took any highway trips before the CTD so I have no idea what it would have gotten.
