My son wants to get saved!

Just because it's religion doesn't mean you need to be more strict on moderating what people say. I've tried real hard to understand religion and why people make these types of choices. Threads like this make me realize why I could never be religious. People like Wade ruin any hope of someone really trying to understand it.

This thread is not about me, or you or religion. It's about my son. Phil is doing his job. Thanks

This is why I don't like religious threads. There are to many different opinions, some more vocal than others. You guys can talk all you want, just leave the Personal attacks out.

Correct, Phil deleted my other post that stated it. But I don't understand how you can believe that he is old enough, at the age of 5, to make such a decision. You are horribly mistaken, and blinded if you feel that way. Yes, I do have 3 young kids of my own.

:hehe: Naw, not taco's, but he loves soccer, t-ball, his fourwheeler, pretty much anything thats active, or competitive.:rockwoot:

Being he loves all these he appears to be an average kid. Does he memorize bible verses on his own or do you have to remind him to do it and coach him?

Phil, I appreciate your linear way of thinking and assumptions, I think Wade is doing a fine job by exsposing his son to various forms of education, wether it be religion, sports, motor sports,or hot dogs

That's racist. He should also be exposed to tacos...

Although I'm religious, I don't see how a 5 year old can make a decision like that. Not my kid though.

There is no way a 5 year old possesses the thought process necessary to grasp the enormity of a decision like this. It's more likely he is imitating what he sees his parents doing in an effort to do what he thinks they want him to. Children of that age are not mentally or emotionally able to process things like this.
I'm not bashing you Wade or your son...but you should look deeper into why he's made this "decision" that he's literally not old enough to make.
Maybe you should tell him that it's more important that he wait until an older age when he has a better understanding of what he's doing. He's merely reacting to his surroundings right now. If he lived with a pack of dogs....he'd think he was a dog. Extreme example...but it's happened before.

They can't...that's a fact supported by medical science.

For some strange reason I was being nice about it.

We are dealing with someone that can't be trusted to pick out their clothes or food. But a major life decision? Maybe he can pick a career while he's at it...

And religion really doesnt care so much for science either so what's Been said might go in one ear and out the other, and I do fully agree 5 years old can't make a life choice like that they don't have the knowledge or the understanding of the world, however you do as you do it's just my opinion 0.02

Same here! Might as well give him a driver license while you're at it!

I agree, this is why i choose to have him better understand what he is getting ready to do, by having his teacher, paster and mom and dad get more in depth with him about this. i want him to fully understand this, thats why i didnt just open up the bible and lead him to the lord.....Because to me it's more than just words in a prayer, It's mind, body, and soul in eternity.

i thought i was clear about this in my first post.

You're not getting it....by doing all of those things you are "leading" him....he cannot understand something of this magnitude. He's not emotionally developed enough to....that's a fact.

If this is something you wanna do right, and I assume you do as it's your son we're talking about...how about you and your wife discuss his ability to comprehend this with a child developement specialist?
See what a professional has to say about his ability to comprehend this big thing at such a young age.

On a side note...he's 5...what could really be happening in a 5 year old's life that he needs saving from? Let him get anouth 10 years under his belt and get closer to an age where he can make his own decisions about religion and it's place in his life. All he's doing right now if something he thinks you want so you'll approve of him. I'd bet getting off the internet and playing with him and a baseball would accomplish the same thing.

Diesel Power,It sounds like you have done a vary good job with your boy.I am happy for you both.Your son will be fine.He is learning from Gods word and his earthly dad.Step one to me is not getting saved.Step one is the willingness to learn. He clearly has that down.So yes, if he feels clear on what Jesus did for him on the cross, and why Jesus had to go through it and more importantly that Jesus was raised from the dead.He could be ready.Did you ask him why he wants to get saved?

Why do all of us heathens insist on getting invovled in a thread, in a section (DFC) where we have no business?

I have made my stance on these things clear in other threads...but if it's in the DFC section, I keep my nose out of it. Till now, and that's simply to say, STFU and not foul up the DFC section when you clearly have NO business. It's like saying Cummins is better in the D-max section. Get over yourselves and leave the section in peace. You wouldn't walk into Wades, or any others church and drop a duece on the front pew, would you????

Wade, I hope you, your son and the rest of you family make the best decsions for all of you.

Blinded by religion....a 5 year old cannot possibly, no way in hell understand the concept of someone being raised from the dead. Children that age don't even comprehend death....much less the reversal of it.
I actually feel sorry for a kid who's parents would allow this to happen.
Force YOUR beliefs on them from birth then actually believe that they reach these conclusions on their own?
You have GOT to be kidding me.

5 year olds believe in Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, etc...
Why ? Because we TOLD them to.
Same reason your son believes in God...you TOLD him to.
He's NOT OLD ENOUGH to make his own decisions.

It's an open forum that I Moderate....I'll post in here at will.
A counter point of view hurts nothing....and for once I'm talking to Wade instead of bashing him. That's gotta count for something.

I guess it should count for something. I'm impressed LOL

I certainly didn't mean to single out anyone. I have the same opinions. But I believe a few may have jumped in here simply because Wade started a thread (you might fit that category Rich). Judging by Phil posts, there must have been some bashing before I ever opened this thread...which is where my statements stemmed from.

XOXO
