 Top notch service from the only real Cummins dealer on the planet earth. Jeff you’re a true asset to most of us here at Comp D. Your the guy that over provides to his customers and us common folk that don’t have parts numbers.

Im sure a typical call for Jeff is: Hey I need that round thingy with rubber on it that sticks out of the top of that other doo dad on my 94 cummins. Oh I dont have a engine or serial number and can you next day air it to me even know your real busy :hehe:

All of my OEM Cummins parts and cocaine come from Jeff at Mumau Diesel. I don’t bother to ask price as its going to be cheaper and better than anyone else. Thanks for doing what you do Jeff.:rockwoot:

YES!

Buying the gear today. I just wanted the piece of mind of not worrying about slipping the timing. Snedge, once I'm ready, I'll give you a call. Pump is pinned at 12.5*, I'm thinking of setting it at 20.5* with the gear. Thoughts? Injectors will go back to Weston for work.

Got some questions hopefully y'all can answer.
Here is my pattern, how does it look? Should I get the cone tighter Or is this pretty good?

Also, all the injectors came out really easy and covered in soot except 4&5 were much harder to get out and were VERY clean for some reason. What gives?

Should the intake side be this gunked up? I thought since diesels were direct injection the intake side would stay much cleaner than this.

Also the cam gear is discolored? Is that from heat, normal?

This also doesn't look right. Is this possible a speed sleeve in here. I can easily hang my nail where you see my finger at.

Cam looked really good along with the tappets

About as far as I got

Also. These blocks have a ton of freeze plugs and the head. Is it a good idea to thread them and put thread in plugs while its apart? Also thinking about getting a block stiffener/girdle? Good investment? How do most go bout cleaning up the deck?

Cylinders looked good.

Cummins has a front seal with speedi-sleeve.

I guess what I'm saying is this looks like a speedi-sleeve on here, but with incredibly bad wear rings. Worse I've ever seen on an engine. I wonder if the PO did something wrong? What is the best way to remove one once its on so I can put a new one on.

Thanks.

It did have a speedi-sleeve. I removed it and the crank looks much better.

You think the previous owner ever had an exhaust brake on the truck? That would be my only explanation to that much carbon in the intake.

I have had my head off twice and my pistons have the same marks from Jammers to Bosch 7x.10's.

Some of my intake valves were like that when i pulled it apart at 200k miles. Leaky valve seals would be my guess. I would assume at low/no boost some exhaust will re-enter the intake valves and over time it builds up??

I do not think there ever was an exhaust brake on the truck. Hmm, well this truck had stock injectors, then some DAP 60hp injectors which were ~7x 0.008, and then Weston 6 x .013. You definately can tell the six hole injectors were in here last.

I also noticed that cylinder one, two, and six were the worst out of the six. These 24v heads use the "top hat" style seals, right? They are the better style, maybe they were worn that bad?? Always ran good though.

Talked to my local machine shop, and they gave me some pretty good prices on head rebuild. I'm gonna take it in tomorrow in person, get it sonic cleaned, pressure checked, and magna fluxed.
