"The 2.6 right now is 3.0 undercover."

Let's turn the clock back a few years;

Street Class was 2.8", with a no adapter plate rule, which meant all turbine housings must be T3. It was decided that the turbocharger restriction was too allowing, so it was dropped to 2.5" for a short time, then settled on 2.6" to allow 66mm S300's. And even for a period of time there were certain pulls that had a 4500RPM limit in this class. Throughout all of these changes ag governors were never allowed.

Flash forward to today;

It is completely common to see 75-80mm clipped/bushed turbochargers with T6 housings, dual 35" tires, and ag governors. And now, when the class rules should continue to advance with the hp gains, people just want to let it be. Even though there are components being allowed now that never were in the past when the hp was lower. I don't remember hearing the complaining and bickering when the rules were tighter, only when they opened up and made the class a larger spread.

You may have been at this longer than I, but can't ever remember a time when there was no complaining and bickering about the rules. :rules:

I believe 2.6" protrusion, T4 housing, and a single 35" tire is a completely reasonable compromise between the people wanting to leave the class alone or bring it down considerably.

For how long are you willing to FIX those rules? Just askin'...

True, but it has become much more of a heated issue, just look at how many threads there are dealing with the 2.6" rules.

I'd be fine with that. Maybe even like was stated before with no MWE. I'm not much on limting tire size or count but I don't know too many running over 35" tires anyway. Take these & let'm eat.

Make the adjustments for the 2011 season, if at the end of that season it is deemed necessary to bring it back a bit more, then we'll see about the removal of the MWE or the use of a restrictor plate.

Yes removing the MWE is just added cost. Put limits on the MWE that it must total no more than a total of .25" width of MWE in the complete turbo.

Gotta be honest, I am not a fan of "let's wait and see on how much needs changed after that."

Constant money spending, never knowing where you'll end up. Some guy screams louder than you and gets it changed to 2.5" with X and Y and Z...what a bunch of crap. Good times for parts suppliers though!

You should move in a direction with a rule set you think you can stand on for 3 years.

It seems to me that at some point the BOB guys are gonna wake up and see that their exclusive rules hurts them anywhere outside of their region...

Here is an idea...get off the internet and tune on your truck. I agree 2.6 has got out of hand and the turbo is not the only factor. It really IMO doesn't matter what the rules are there will always be a few that will do their homework and dyno time that will remain on top.PERIOD. The main ones around this area whining are the ones that got the rules changed last year to what they thought would help them. Guess what instead of whining the guys that were on top last year are still on top this year. Didn't here them *****in and whining when the rules were changed, because they were already at home working on their truck, not setting back thinking they would be competitive because they whined enough to get the rules changed to their liking.

Not *****in, Im just sayin.

So...I hear another vote for "leave the rules alone and get to work on your junk".

I agree with the 3 year lock down, this changing rules every year isn't helping anyone but the parts suppliers. You don't see the tractor and gas guys changing all these rules every year.

The BOB rules next year are suppose to call for at least 1/8" protrusion, at least 3/4" of the bore before the wheel to be 2.6" and the MWE to be no more than 1/4".

From what I understand most of the trucks at the beginning of the season didn't meet this rule(that's perfectly fine too since they are for 2011). But also I know several have already made the switch for next year it seems, and it shows on the track

LOL dont worry they done have there rules set for next year but like u and others this topic will b 1000 pages long and still trying to figure out what to do LOL

My charger is good for the BOB series next year. Gues what it get's down to it ill have another charger in the shop to switch to run the rest of the places. Or better yet charger dont make 2.6 ill bump up to 2.8 Tune your truck in not your fingers guys.

I assure the purpose of the MWE groove in this turbocharger is not to prevent/reduce surge. And it is located in front of the tip of the compressor wheel.

I don't think a contoured bore should be allowed. 2.6 for the compleat bore.

FPP Techs told me They want a big rule change. They also said theres a bunch cry babies who dont want to hook at the there local fairs due to the strong running trucks that show up. The one tech told me that a protrusion rule will tame the class down. What they dont know, or neglect to see is that half of the trucks that are winning already have a protruding wheel. Same competiters that are currently winning are still gonna dominate!

There are some really tough trucks Here in NE Ohio and its hard to win.
I like the cometition and it only pushes me harder to think outside the box and build my truck stronger with the current rules
