Hey guys getting ready to buy one of these... which is better for a CR spinning high rpms for drag racing???

Could you tell me why ati? For my knowledge and if anyone asked me for the same advice im asking for guys...??!!!

I would like to know why one. Is better than the other as well! Mine will be going on a 12v spinning less than 4500 rpms though.

FluiDampr's viscous coupling is great for low-RPM use (like a street diesel), but an ATI's elastomer ring coupling absorbs torsional spikes better at higher RPM.

ATI tends to be lighter and is tunable via ring count & durometer for a wider range of harmonic damping.

I think you should talk to a tech from both companies. My personal experience is Fluidampr comes out on top in the Diesel market.

So Fluidamper for an under 4k engine and ATI for a higher reving engine?

I have an ATI, couldnt tell you which is better, I just got a great deal on the ATI. And if the Fluidampner is better for a lower RPM diesel, why does Scott have one on BBD? I think both are good... and I don't know if the stocker is bad either.

Cummins marine damper, but it will not fit on a CR and it's not SFI approved.

It seems like we argue about this every 6 months. It used to be just a few with ATI- now we're the cool crowd.

Thiers a reason you have to pin the crank with the FD. Ive seen new bolts sheer and the damper come off. No need to pin the ATI. If you went into the bottom end as often as I had to between 3 race cars in the past 3 years and see the before and after on just bearing wear you'd be a believer also. The ATI is a great piece gass or diesel. Ryan

is anyone's CR even living long enough to fail from torsional/harmonic damage?

are factory dampeners failing (other than something with 300,000 miles)?

Also, unless you have a standalone, the CR aren't turning high RPM's anyway, right? They're still at 4k with Smarty aren't they?

Factory dampeners can fail with less than 150,000 miles.

6.7Ls have a viscous damper with a bit larger O.D. that are over 3lbs. heavier than an SFI-spec 5.9L FluiDampr.
