For u guys running large turbos....I had to remove my passenger side shock tower to have the right amount of clearance for my turbo. I have a flat plate made to fit over the shock tower mounting bolts. My question is what shock are you guys using for this type of problem ? P/N, suggestions?

how big of a turbo is large? I hope your not talking about the silver bullet in your sig that should fit with no problems

let me see if i can dig the p/n up. it was a yellow monroe shock that is 3 inches shorter. If you hang abunch of weight on front it will bottom the shock out though.

alright cool a p/n would be awesome. the turbo is actually a garrett vgt off a 6.0 ford. the adapter makes the turbo stick out a touch to far and it contacts the shock tower.

I have the yellow shocks on my puller, have hung 1400 lbs up front with an s4 and I'm not close to the shock tower

i also have the same problem. I had a S485 w a 1.32 t6 housing and had to cut the shock tower but i need to run a shorter shock and put a flat plate on top. i was think atleast 4 to 5 inches shorter.

u have the yellow shocks?

yep, yellow and all rusted out. before this s400 I used to have a silver bullet on my truck did not need to mod the shocks at all.

have you checked your motor mount on that side? my be broken or need the rubber replaced

did you not read this one?? the silver bullet is not what i am having problems with. the garrett is what is contacting the shock tower....a p/n for a shorter shock is what im after

how much was it in the way? I bet you could have used a persuader on the piece of shock tower, I know my 480 is awful close

there isnt any persuading with this one. i posted the pics up on another forum but i cant post them on this one for some reason

part number 34778 monroe gas magnum. the shock itself still bottoms out not the turbo. The shock needs to be about 2 more inches shorter but it works. Kinda like a suspension stop for the motor torque though. LOL

i had a 1.10 t4 bolted to my pdi t4 manifold with plenty of room. now i have the 1.32 t6 and a scheid t4-t6 adapter and it wasnt happenin. no my manifold is not flipped.

Itf it's at all similar to the Holset VGT, modding the turbine housing to fit the t-3 foot might work, that's what I did. Got plenty of clearance.

This is how he has it setup (from his link above).

Would a T4 manifold gain you the clearance you need? You could at least take out the spacer from the stack of adapters.
Another idea would be to weld a v-band flange directly to a modified T3 flange. That would move the turbo a lot closer to the manifold and I think fix your problem you are trying to bandaid with a shock.

Seems some trucks have more clearance than others. I lost the shock tower on mine, just incase the engine was torqueing over.

ahhh, I see now--shoulda looked at that link. I'd prolly be flipping the manifold, or at least chaining the engine on the driver side---that looks tight! How do those chargers run on the CTD?
