05 Cummins ISX turbo question

Tell me again why you would fool with a charger this large that's got a shaft that's way smaller than a S400!?!?

Because it's cheap, and you know, so many of this are out being abused by hot rodders.....I can think of about 2 that have tried these!

Pics aren't the best but it is what I had.

Shaft is way smaller than an S400? The shaft on the HE551 is pretty big?

Well maybe there are different 551s. Here are some rough measurement that I've taken off various shafts.

HE551ve - quill - 7.98mm, bearing journal - 12.18mm
S300 - quill - 7.98mm, bearing journal - 11.56mm
S400 - quill - 9.98mm, bearing journal - 14.47mm

I'll forget what you said because your a rookie but you MISSED the point of my original post by so many miles I can't even see you.
I'm far from a rookie noob boy. I've been fixing ISX engines since they were first released in 1998.

You're talking about fixing the stock VGT turbo yet you won't have any way to control it, the delete kit removed the ECM's ability to control or even see the turbo's actuator. You will need to fit a wastegated or non-wastegated turbo in order for the engine to function correctly.

Again, instead of being an aggressive troll towards the people trying to help you, you should try to comprehend the situation. Once again you've failed at seeing the big picture, you only look at whats right in front of your nose and completely ignore the rest of the world around you.

You are a rookie. End of discussion. Even your title says you are. So shut up until I need advice on how to fix a tickle me elmo.

A buddy of mine just put a PDI turbo and EGR delete kit on his truck cause the OEM turbo bearings went out. My question is if the compressor wheel hit the housing on the factory turbo. Is the it worth fixing up and if so how much would I be looking at money wise for a turbo to play around with? (I'm assuming its an HE551)

Was the question worded:

IF the compressor wheel hit, is it worth fixing?

Youll need a fresh cover too, clearances between the compressor wheel and cover are important, so factor that into it.

Ive been looking for a 451VE or 551VE for my 6.7, with no avail. Ones that are available, are 2k+ in good shape.

I thought I heard of guys putting S-300 guts in them for some sort of a custom performance rebuild.
Talk to Lee about costs if he can fix it, he's a turbo expert.

S300 guts in a charger with an 80mm+ turbine, and a 71/108 compressor??

What do you advise?
A forum's user title means nothing.

Ah, so the OP is a forum rookie that doesn't know how to make a new thread when the topic shifts wildly from the main discussion.
